One afternoon during the Maine family reunion we hopped into the car to explore a stunning area familiar to many – Kennebunkport. It is well known as the summer retreat of the late President George H. W. Bush, wife Barbara and extended Bush family. It is located on private oceanfront called Walkers Point. It is a pristine area with fresh sea salt air and wildflowers swaying in the breeze. The day we were there we spotted many a happy newly married couple posing for pictures on the rocks, the Atlantic Ocean twinkling behind them. The town of Kennebunkport is filled with ice cream, antique shops, and plenty of seafood. The Clam Shack is located in the center of town – the sweet smell of freshly cooked clams wafts through the hungry crowds. I understand why the Bush family so loved this special part of Maine.
