It’s been too long…St. Maarten Travel blog

Blogging takes time, energy and passion. Sometimes you feel like you are writing for yourself, yet when I search for other travel blogger destinations – I appreciate their insight and unbiased recommendations. So let’s get back on the horse so to speak. I have traveled to places I love. Today I write about two of them. Last week I traveled to St. Martin and St. Barts looking for a cold weather destination with good food and warm relaxing waves during this gloomy period of travel. It was the perfect RX for the soul. Yes, you fill out a health questionnaire, and must be vaccinated. I get it. It is complicated wherever you fall on the issue. But let’s get past that and talk about the travel exper.ience. It was good. You arrive on the tarmac on St. Martin with that unmistakable sunshine and only in the Caribbean salt air in your face. You pass Immigration and the required health checklist. Ok we hopped into a cab on our way to the French side and the beach of Grand Case. It has been years since I have been to Saint Martin, probably fifteen, so it is no surprise there have been changes due to the hurricane in 2017 and new building development everywhere. It has been a long time. I look for any remembered landmarks. None. Ok I look at the island with fresh eyes.. The cab driver loves Grand Case, the beach, the people, and of course the food. He says it is impossible to have a bad meal on Grand Case and I believe him. Saint Martin has always been known as a culinary destination in the Caribbean. I am so grateful to be here. We arrive at Les Temps des Cerises Hotel. It is the definition of Bohemian island chic. Casual elegance with French style. Great hospitality, drinks. food, ambience, and music. We settle into the room and savor the view. We grab a rum punch on the beach and settle in for a fresh fish dinner on the terrace. We feel blessed…
