A stay in the village of Praiano on the Amalfi Coast is a glorious, yet less crowded alternative to Positano. One of my favorites places to lounge, swim, and dine is at Il Pirata next to the main beach of Praiano. The restaurant/ beach club oozes atmosphere and offers a delicious beach day dining option. You should reserve your beach chair and lunch reservation on their website before you arrive, especially in high season. Then grab your lounge chair, sun, swim, and have a leisurely lunch on the waters edge. It is a glorious time in Praiano. Try to order the Mamas potato croquettes and a sgroppino made with Prosecco, vodka, and lemon sorbet. Read the fascinating story of building a restaurant out of the side of a rock on their website. It is a family story of hard work and delicious determination turning it into the success it enjoys today.
