Da Conch Shack – that local Turks and Caicos beachfront hang full of charm and of course Da Conch

It is great to find that local restaurant that has delicious food, a view that never gets old, and service with that local hospitality that gives you a true feeling of your travel destination and its people. Da Conch Shack fits the bill of all the above. It is a casual, toes in the sand, relax at the picnic tables with a strong island rum punch in your hand. But it’s their specialty of conch that you will order off the menu and be glad that you did. I tried both the conch fritters and the conch chowder. I am telling you they were outstanding and some of the best I have had whether it be the Keys or Miami. The fritters were full of conch in a light crispy batter with just the right amount of heat and seasoning. Same for the chowder – vegetables, conch, savory broth. A meal unto itself – just add a splash of hot sauce. The conch is so fresh it is harvested right in front of this waterside restaurant. We’re lucky to enjoy the horses riding by in the cool water as a mid meal highlight. They also have live music throughout the week. Another reason to stay a little bit longer and maybe order a second rum punch…
