East Coast Charmer – Portland, Maine

My Dad’s first cousin Roger lives in the charming coastal city of Portland, Maine. We hopped into his tiny car as he gave us an insider peek at his hometown. First things first – a lunch at one of his favorite local seafood dives. Susan’s Fish N Chips is the best of a neighborhood restaurant. Visitors and residents alike relax and chill in the comfortable vibe. Order the namesake fish and chips with a side of clam chowder. You won’t be disappointed!

After this tasty lunch we squeezed back into the car for a breezy tour of the highlights of his fine city. We checked out the funky downtown, East End Beach, and the historical tracks of the Narrow Gauge Railroad which served remote parts of Maine. The railroad was built in the late 1800’s and ran on rails which were only two feet apart.

The grande finale of our Portland afternoon was the Portland Head Light. It is the oldest lighthouse in Maine completed in 1791. It is a photographer’s dream. Sea, rocks, sun, flowers – its beauty is undeniable. I will leave you with my video to appreciate its magic..
